Overview
Southern India’s rich exoticism is only partially known to the travelling cognoscenti – Kerala’s backwaters
navigated by traditional barges, the coast’s palm-backed sands, chic boutique hotels, Ayurvedic spas and
beachside resorts. But explore deeper into the region’s hinterland and find enchanting spice forests, jungles
dense with leopards, verdant tea estates and the seductive undulations of the Western Ghats. Retreat to the
serenity of a private lakeside house. Wander through temple towns pulsating with life, discovering Tamil Nadu
– India’s Dravidian heart – and the lost cities of the Deccan empires. Splash out in seductive and fun-loving
Goa. Or charter a traditional sailing dhow, cruising towards the little-known Lakshadweep.
